Last week, the Real Projectives Team spent a few hours helping prep bags of food at the local non-profit organization, Fish of Laurel. This is a part of Fish of Laurel’s effort to pass out bags to those in need every Thursday and Saturday.
Team members Sarah Fremuth, Lisa Barrett and Connor Jones arrived at the Elizabeth House and first helped unload a food delivery. Afterwards, they bagged fresh produce and meat. Jones and Barret helped pass out the bags of food to clients and assisted walk-ups in filling up bags of fresh produce, meat, and other pantry food items for them to take away.
In the meantime, Fremuth was in the basement preparing bags of canned goods for Saturday’s clients and making sure items delivered earlier in the day were properly stored.
Between Thursday and Saturday pickups the Fish of Laurel reports around 200 clients come by every month and cook dinner for up to 140 people nightly.
