As the proud owner’s representative on the Rash Field Park Phase I project for the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore (WPB), Real Projectives® is excited to share a progress update on the work that started last year.
As we move into Spring 2021, much of the underground infrastructure has been completed, and the visible elements of the Park are beginning to appear. The contractor, Whiting Turner, will be building new active play and passive environmental centers including construction of a new 1500 square feet concrete and steel structure with glass walls, set into the hillside, and adjacent steel-framed open-air pavilion integrated with robust landscaping thereby transforming the prior aged facilities into a world-class park.
We intensively worked with WPB, designers Mahan Rykiel, Gensler and others, and contractors to drive the design, and structure of the construction contract to build in flexibility as the team contended with inherent risks associated with working in and around Baltimore’s formerly heavy industrial harbor area. The resulting design modifications, contingency management, and construction contract structuring allowed the team to successfully contend with these inherent challenges and to deliver the program as envisioned by our client.
We were chosen because of our staff’s hyper-local Baltimore City knowledge, our extensive site design expertise, and our strong vertical construction management track record. RPL continues to actively manage the construction, keeping the team on budget and on schedule, and being our client’s biggest advocate as we all work to create this world-class park in the great City of Baltimore.
